When I first taught music, after The Beatles but before computers, I kept a file box of index cards with student information. Remarkably, that system worked! When the first computers arrived, my records went on a simple little program called FileMaker for the Macintosh.

  2. We do not sell or rent our customer lists.
  3. We do not spam. E-Mails are sent from us to you for informational purposes such as changes to the Charms Program and announcements of upcoming events.
  4. Student information can only be accessed by the head director or assistants with a valid username and password, or the Charms database administrators. Parents can access their own student's information with a valid ID or password.
  5. We do not give out student information to anyone other than the head teacher of record and their designated assistants.
  6. It's that simple.

In order for your child to enjoy all of the features of Charms, including the recording studio and personalized calendars, your child needs an ID number issued by the organization subscribed to Charms.

No information other than a valid ID is required, although something has to be entered into the First and Last Name fields. You are welcome to use any name you like in those fields. If you change the name, you should alert the teacher so they know who is entered into their system. Email address, physical address, phone number, birth date, and any other data is not required to use our system.

Having a student email address allows your teacher to contact your student with information about the program. Having a student cell number allows your teacher to contact your student via text message. You can request that the teacher create a generic ID number, not associated with the school district.

Information Collected

Any information entered into Charms is stored in our secure servers and is not accessible via public IP.

We do not have any agreements with outside organizations to collect personal information at our website. We do not share children's (or adult's) personal information with any third party.

Parental Review

As a parent, you have the ability to review, correct, and delete any personal information that has been entered about your child under the age of 13. The first step is to log into the Charms system as a parent, change the password, and make your edits. The second step is to contact the teacher and ask that the child's information be deleted or edited. Finally, you may contact our office for further assistant. Please note, we will not release any personal information of any children, regardless of age, to persons claiming to be those children's parents without verification that the child's parent is requesting the information.

If we make any material change to this notice or the informational practices with regard to children we will, as required by law, post a new notice to that effect. If the situation requires consent, we will provide a means to provide consent.

We take seriously our obligation to safeguard the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information collected from our users, and have established and will maintain procedures that are designed for that purpose. Children and parents should be aware, however, that no system is completely secure from hackers, network failure and error, and although we use the best means at our disposal, we cannot ultimately guarantee the confidentiality, security and integrity of information maintained on our service.
